Tommy Robredo v Bernabe Zapata Miralles Head to Head
While these two haven’t played each other at the highest level before this, a couple of matches on the Challenger circuit over the past four years have been shared. The last time they faced off was in Marbella and Zapata Miralles was leading 6-0, 3-0 when his opponent retired from the match.

Robredo was once ranked fifth in the world but the Spanish veteran hasn’t been doing a lot of winning in recent times.
The world number 362 has had his share of victories on the Challenger circuit having won a couple of such tournaments in 2019 but even those have reduced with time. And at the highest level, Robredo hasn’t won a main draw match since his opening round win at the 2017 French Open.
Not to mention, Robredo has barely played any competitive tennis since the start of 2020. Even this year, his only appearance in a tournament of note came at the Monterrey Challenger where he lost in the second round.
Not surprising then, his ranking has taken a major tumble and while the Spaniard has been awarded a wildcard here, it would be interesting to see if he can get going.

Zapata Miralles Aiming for Rare Main Draw Win
It hasn’t been a year to remember so far for Zapata Miralles, who has won just one main draw match on the ATP circuit.
A clay court specialist, Zapata Miralles managed his solitary win in Pune but since then has lost five matches on the first round and one in the qualifying rounds of ATP competitions.
Two ways of looking at things though and the other one is that he has been winning a lot of qualifiers to make main draws of tournaments. By demolishing both his qualifying opponents in Barcelona Zapata Miralles made it to his fourth competition first round and that should please him a tad.
Would that be enough to help him register just his second win of the season though?
