Karolína Muchová v Catherine Bellis Predictions & Preview

World number 22 Karolina Muchova will be in action against USA’s Catherine Bellis, a former world number 35 who is featuring at this Australian Open on a protected ranking. This will be the first ever time these two will be facing off.

Muchova did not have a great start to the season as she went down Alison Riske in the first round of the Brisbane International earlier this year. She came back to defeat Kirsten Flipkens in the first round but not before her opponent had taken her to the third set and then to a tie-breaker to go with it. The Czech seed scraped through to make it to the second round.

And now in this round of 64, she will be up against a player who had risen in the ranks as a precocious youngster before injuries got the better of her – hence the protected ranking. Bellis has already beaten three top-10 player in her career, including Agnieszka Radwanska, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Karolina Pliskova and with the American now fully fit, she could get better of Muchova in an upset win here.

Danielle Collins v Yulia Putintseva Predictions & Preview

This is the third time that Danielle Collins and Yulia Putintseva will be meeting at this level, with both players having won once apiece. The first time they met was last year at Eastbourne where Putintseva was leading 5-0 in the first set before her opponent conceded the tie. Earlier this season, Collins ripped past Putintseva in the second round of the Brisbane International, dropping just one game in her win.

Collins is coming off two solid performances so far too. She dropped just three games in the two matches she won en route her quarterfinal appearance at Brisbane before making it to the semifinal at Adelaide. It took the world number one and eventual winner Ash Barty to beat her in that match.

It was a surprise then, she was stretched to three sets by Vitalia Diatchenko in her opening round match. While Putintseva, ranked 38th, had an easier passage to the second round, Collins would have gotten used to the conditions and should start a heavy favourite to win this with relative ease.

Tip: Collins to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click here to get these odds with bet365)

Anett Kontaveit v Sara Sorribes Tormo Predictions & Preview

Anett Kontaveit should enter this second round match against Sara Sorribes Tormo as a favourite, having beaten Sara Sorribes Tormo on both previous occasions as recently as 2019. They first faced at the 2019 Australian Open and then followed it up with another first round match at the US Open with both matches going in straight sets to Kontaveit. This could be one-way traffic going Kontaveit’s way.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova v Taylor Townsend Predictions & Preview

30th-ranked Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will take on the 79th-ranked Taylor Townsend in this second round match and both are coming into this one with straight-set wins in their openers.

Pavlyuchenkova defeated Nina Stojanovic in her first round match while Townsend stunned Jessica Pegula, after the latter had made it to the final at Auckland Open. That was Townsend’s first win of the season, having earlier gone down fighting to Caroline Garcia in Auckland.

On the other hand, Pavlyuchenkova lost a fighting encounter against Petra Kvitova at Brisbane, won the first round in Adelaide before Ash Barty got the better of her and then won her first round match here. What will fill her with a lot of confidence is both her defeats to top-10 opponents came with Pavlyuchenkova giving it her all, and the matches going to three sets.

Pavlyuchenkova to win this in straight sets.
