What Happened at the Previous WTA Transylvania Open?
In what turned out to be her first ever WTA title victory, Tamara Korpatsch overcame Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the title-decider to clinch the tournament. She eased to a 6–3, 6–4 victory.
This was after just two of the eight seeded players, Ana Bogdan and Rebecca Masarova made the quarterfinals. They faced off and Masarova won before losing to Ruse in the semis.
