Riske, Battling Form Woes
By all means, Alison Riske has had a season to be proud of. She won the Libema Open title, defeating Kiki Bertens in the final and was also a runner-up in the Shenzhen Open. Furthermore, she was a quarterfinalist in Wimbledon as well, where she defeated the likes of Belinda Bencic and Ashleigh Barty.
However, she wasn’t half as impressive in the US Open series, losing quite early in Cincinnati, Toronto, and New York. Even in Asia, most notably in Zhenzhou and Osaka, Riske failed to move past the second round.
However, she has managed to turn all of it around in Wuhan so far. She has moved past the likes of Kateryna Kozlova, Monica Puig, and Qiang Wang to reach yet another quarterfinal on the circuit.
