Kristyna Pliskova v Alison Van Uytvanck Head to Head

The two players last met at the start of the decade in 2011. Pliskova won that match in Vandryne in straight sets.

Pliskova, in with a Promising Run

Having won her first singles title in Tashkent back in 2016, Kristyna Pliskova will be hoping for a similar re-run this time around. Following a pretty average season so far where the Czech has lost mainly in the early rounds, this semifinal run will come as a breath of fresh air for her.

With a win-loss tally of 27-26, the only other time she reached the semifinal this year was in Lugano, where she defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova. That also marked one of her biggest victories in the season, with the other one coming over her sister Karolina in Birmingham.

In her last couple of tournaments in Seoul and Nanchang, Kristyna never made it past the early rounds.

As for her run in Tashkent, she has so far toppled Jasmine Paolini, Katarzyna Kawa, and the top seed Viktoria Kuzmova.

Van Uytvanck, Packing a Certain Punch

In terms of title and form, Alison Van Uytvanck has had a comparatively better season having successfully defended her singles title in the WTA Budapest. With that, she also reached the semifinal in Morocco and the final of an ITF event in Germany.

Currently ranked World No. 61, the young Belgian has had an average run in Tashkent as she moved past Monica Niculescu and Pauline Parmentier in straight sets. Similar to Pliskova, she will be pleased with her performance, especially considering her litany of early-round losses in the previous tournaments.

Pliskova v Uytvanck Tips & Predictions

The two players are on equal footing for this fixture. With very similar form and momentum, this one can very well go either way. The odds, however, will be in the favour of Alison, seeing her superior ranking.
