Beatriz Haddad Maia v Ana Bogdan

Very few players have been as consistent as Beatriz Haddad Maia as the Brazilian made her way all the way to the top 20 with some amazing performances. Her run on grass was the one that got the attention on her and she never looked back.

46-18 is the record so far this year with 19-11 on hard courts and the second set looks set for a semi-final here. Both of her wins so far in Portoroz have come in straight sets and it’s hard to see a way Bogdan can do anything in this matchup. She played well so far but Haddad Maia is by far the best player she has faced.

More importantly, she’s the most consistent player as the Romanian was outplayed by Ajla Tomljanovic earlier in the event but the Australian simply lacked the consistency to win the match after taking an early break in the final set. Those things won’t happen to Haddad Maia and she already defeated Bogdan this year.

It was on clay and it was a 3-setter and we might see that one here again. I do think this might go to three sets but the bottom line is Haddad Maia wins likely in two.

Tip: Haddad Maia to win in straight sets: 26/25 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Diane Parry v Anna-Lena Friedsam

Not many expected great things from Parry this year but the French player is showing herself more than capable of it. She made her first notable impression on the wider tennis audiences with some solid performances at Roland Garros and she’s followed that up with some solid play on other surfaces as well.

Friedsam is a former top 100 player and while her ranking did drop to outside of the top 200, she’s still capable of playing good tennis. Her win over Emma Raducanu proves just that and it was quite an impressive victory where she showed patience and tennis smarts.

She’ll need those tricks against Parry as well because the French player enjoys attacking as much as Raducanu does. They never played before so this promises to be a close affair that quite possibly will go to three sets. They have an identical record of 21-21 before this match but Parry played better overall.

I do think she’s closer to victory than Friedsam simply judging the way they played so far this week.

Tip: Parry to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Jasmine Paolini vs Katerina Siniakova

Last year’s champion Jasmine Paolini had a crazy run here to smash every opponent en route to the final. She’s back and she’s showing a fairly high level once more albeit one that is far from the one last year. She was practically unplayable last year while this year, she’s already shown herself to be vulnerable.

Siniakova is a fine player and she is certainly capable of beating Paolini. Both of them enjoy hitting the ball very hard and we won’t see many slices in this one. It will mostly come down to which player strikes the ball cleaner over the span of two hours.

I do think we’ll go the full distance in this one because I could see them take turns in which plays better. They have a very similar record over the year and it’s going to be their first clash. It’s a perfect combination for a long match and if it happens I think Paolini will have a slight edge.

Mostly due to winning here last year.

Tip: Paolini to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
