Marin Cilic v Dominic Thiem

Marin Cilic takes on Dominic Thiem in a fascinating event in Tel Aviv indoors. This will be the first match Cilic is playing since the US Open so it will be interesting to see whether the Croatian, a very good indoor player, can find his rhythm rather quickly.

Thiem has been playing a few weeks now but his level is still all over the place and it’s certainly nowhere near the level he had before his wrist injury. He is grinding out wins and he might get an opportunity to do so again in this one.

It will come down to how the players play as the conditions are a bit slow compared to how indoors have been in the past. It’s still faster than usual and Cilic should have a slight advantage with his serve. The Croatian certainly had a better year so far so he’s favoured to win it.

I think he’ll keep it in two sets.

Tip: Cilic to win in straight sets: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Grigor Dimitrov v Ilya Ivashka

Another fascinating matchup awaits us in Sofia with native player Grigor Dimitrov hoping to finally give the fans a native champion. He’s by far the biggest player in the country and has the best chance but this will be a tricky test for him.

Ivashka played a very competitive round one match against Ymer and he held firm although showing some glaring weaknesses. The court is not the fastest but power is often rewarded indoors and both have plenty. Consistency is the key for both as neither Ivashka nor Dimitrov are known as the most consistent players on Tour.

The Bulgarian had had a decent season as did Ivashka but the latter player far fewer matches due to dealing with injuries. Recent form is on the side of Ivashka though and it’s not unheard of Dimitrov to disappoint in a spot where he is expected to win.

There is value in trying Ivashka to win this match.

Tip: Ivashka to win: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Casper Ruud v Nicolas Jarry

Casper Ruud replaced London with Seoul as the Norwegian player ventured to the Far East to try some tennis in that part of the world. It’s been a solid Laver Cup for him albeit he only played one match. Still, it was good enough to give him a match ahead of this one.

Nicolas Jarry is not a player that enjoys playing on hard courts as his focus mainly lies on clay courts but he’s certainly capable of playing decently on the surface. A solid serve, and some solid groundstrokes are enough to keep him in matches and if the consistency is there he can produce a solid effort.

He’ll enjoy playing on a slower hard court but so will Ruud as he’s a strong clay player as well. If this match was player in Chile or some other high-altitude clay court, Jarry would be dangerous. In this spot the Norwegian is simply the better player and expect him to cruise.

Tip: Ruud to win in straight sets: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
