Guido Pella v Corentin Moutet Head to Head

This will be the third meeting between the pair. Both of them have won one match so far. Pella won their first meeting in Sao Paulo two years ago whereas Moutet prevailed at the French Open last year. Both the matches were played on the clay courts.

Pella Coming off Best Ever Showing at the Australian Open

After an impressive 2019 where he won his maiden ATP title at Sao Paulo, Pella has started the new season in solid fashion. After winning two matches at the ATP Cup and followed it up with his best-ever showing at the Australian Open. He reached the third round where he went down to Fabio Fognini.

Currently ranked 22 in the world, he is close to his best-ever ranking of 20, which he achieved late last year. He reached the finals at Cordoba last year, so he will have to improve on it and win the title this year to add points to his rankings.

Pella has a very impressive 70-31 record on the clay courts in the last three years, and he will be really relishing this opportunity to add another title to his name.

Can Moutet Replicate his Doha Form?

The 20-year-old Frenchman had a dream run in Doha at the start of the season. He reached the finals and beat Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic and Tennys Sandgren along the way. It was an incredible run considering he started from qualifying rounds. In the end, he couldn’t get past Andrey Rublev but will take huge confidence from that performance.

His rankings jumped to career-best 70 on the back of that run as well. Just like his opponent, Moutet is also a very strong clay-court player. He has won close to 70% of his matches on the clay courts. He got to the second round after comfortably beating Thiago Monteiro in straight sets.

Guido Pella v Corentin Moutet Predictions & Tips

Pella will have to find his rhythm very quickly, considering he hasn’t played a competitive match in over two weeks. Moutet has shown this season already that he has the game to trouble players much better than him. It is likely to be a close contest.

Tip: Pella to go through in three sets: 3/1 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
