Magdalena Rybarikova v Sachia Vickery Head to Head

The two women have met before in the same tournament last year, with the American winning easily in straight sets.

Is the Best Behind Rybarikova?

30-year old Slovak Rybarikova has won four WTA titles, but you have to go back to 2013 and the Washington Open for the last of those victories, although she has claimed several ITF titles since.

Her form in 2019 has been very poor to date, as evidenced by the fact that this is her first quarter final of the year, and as represented by the fact that she had never won two matches in a week before.

And, to get this far, she has had two real struggles, with both her first round encounter with Japan’s Misaki Doi, and her second match with Switzerland’s Stefanie Voegele going to three sets.

Vickery Back at One of her Favourite Events

Currently outside the top 100, Vickery has done little so far this year to match the form that saw her reach two WTA semi-finals in 2018, at Auckland, and back here in Monterrey.

Alternating between the Challenger and Senior tours, her best recent result for the year came in Miami, where she made it through the qualifying tournament, only to lose to Yamina Wickmayer in the first round proper.

However, as her run to the semi-finals last year showed, Monterrey is a tournament she likes, and has already enjoyed some excellent results this week, putting out the number four seed Alison Riske in the first round, and then fighting her way past Japan’s Nao Hibano in the second.

Rybarikova v Vickery Predictions & Tips

This is a close match to call with Rybarikova even money with the bookmakers, whilst Vickery is 11/10. On the basis of world rankings, Rybarikova should win, but Vickery has an affinity for this tournament, so could well pull off the win.

Tip: Vickery to win: 11/10 (betway)
