Belinda Bencic v Antonia Lottner Head to Head

The two ladies have met only once prior to this encounter. That match took place in 2017 Croissy-Beaubourg, France. Bencic won that encounter in straight sets.

Bencic Reaches the Top 20

The Swiss, who peaked as the World No. 7 back at the start of 2016, has since then gone through a spell of injuries and the subsequent loss in form.

Her last couple of seasons were mainly about the Swiss regaining her confidence back on the tour and slowly building her momentum for a strong resurgence. And by the looks of it, that time is finally here.

Bencic arrived in her native country with a win-loss record of 21-6 and has reached the quarterfinal at the very least in three of her last four events. She started the year as World No. 55 and after winning the WTA Dubai and reaching the semifinal in Indian Wells, she found herself moving closer to the top 20.

She had yet another breakthrough in Charleston when she reached the quarterfinal before succumbing to Petra Martic. Nonetheless, this season so far has been among the best ones that the young Swiss has had in a considerably long time.

Lottner in her First WTA Event of the Year

The 22-year-old German has spent most of her time this season playing on the ITF circuit. Ranked in the late 100s, she played in the ITF events in France, Great Britain, and Germany but lost in the early rounds.

Lottner also participated in the Australian Open as a qualifier but lost in the final round to Anna Kalinskaya.

In Lugano, she made it to the main draw after defeating Leonie Kung and Barabara Haas in the qualifying rounds. That win marks her first WTA main draw appearance since the WTA Moscow in July last season.

Bencic v Lottner Predictions & Tips

Bencic will start this game as the favourite to win. She is the local superstar and has been in a much better form than her German adversary. Moreover, Lottner hasn’t won her opening match in a WTA event since the WTA Mallorca last year. Even then, she lost in the second round. This should prove to be an easy win for the number one seed.

Tip: Under 17.5 games in the match: 17/20 (Betway)
