Jessica Pegula v Daria Kasatkina Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came at the 2021 Rome Open and Pegula had won that in straight sets.

Pegula Routs Bucsa

Pegula’s consistency this season has rewarded her with a spot in the top-five of the WTA Rankings and a potential qualification for the WTA Finals in which she is currently fifth.

And that same consistency was seen in her second round demolition of Cristina Bucsa as she blew her opponent off the court with a 6-1, 6-2 scoreline.

In a first round match which lasted just 63 minutes, Pegula lost only three first serve points. She did face two break-points but saved them both while breaking Bucsa’s serve on four occasions.

This result follows her slightly under-par showing at the US Open in which she was one of the favourites but went down to Madison Keys in the fourth round. Pegula will now hope to keep at it as she looks to ward off a tricky quarterfinal opponent here.

Pegula is 3/5 (with bet365) to win this.

Kasatkina Takes Care of Papamichail

In a match which went on for a bit longer than what Kasatkina would have preferred, she managed to notch up a straight-set win over Despina Papamichail in the second round of this competition.

Kasatkina, who was earlier stretched to three sets by Marta Kostyuk in the opening round, was on court for two hours and three minutes for her 6-4, 6-4 victory against Papamichail.

It was a match filled with break-points and breaks of serves. In fact half of the 20 games on show in the encounter saw a break of serve with Kasatkina losing her service four times and her opponent missing it six times.

The first set was a relatively straightforward one for Kasatkina who traded breaks in the first two games and then added one other break of serve in the fifth game. It was in the second that all hell broke loose, at least as far as the serving is concerned.

In all but three of the 10 games in the set, the serve was broken as Kasatkina went from serving for a 4-0 lead to the score reading 4-4 at one stage. She broke Papamichail in the ninth game and then held on to clinch her place in the last eight.

She will be a 13/10 underdog in this with bet365.

Pegula v Kasatkina Prediction and Tip

Pegula is our pick to win this and to do that in straight sets too we believe.
