Rodionov in a Comeback Win over Barrere
Starting out as a qualifier who was 6/5 with bet365 to overcome Gregoire Barrere in his first round match, Rodionov looked to be in trouble when he fell a set behind to his opponent.
Having lost his serve twice in the first set, Rodionov broke back twice in the second set to wrap up the equaliser. In the decider, however, neither player was able to get past the other’s serve and the set did not see a single deuce in the first nine games.
In the 10th, Rodionov was down two match-points at 15-40 but came back to take the set into a tie-breaker. And even that went neck in neck with the two tied at 5-5 at one stage. Rodionov earned a match-point soon after and converted that first chance he got.
