Lesia Tsurenko v Lin Zhu Head to Head

The pair have played each other three times before, and Tsurenko currently leads their head to head series by two matches to won.

Their first meeting was in Dubai four years ago, Tsurenko winning in three sets.

They then played each other again twice in the space of a few weeks earlier this year, Zhu winning in the final in Thailand, but Tsurenko the victor at Indian Wells.

Tsurenko Has Not Played Much Tennis Recently

Tsurenko has won four WTA titles in her career, but, at the age of 34, her best days are probably behind her, and the last of those victories came five ago.

Nevertheless, she showed what she was capable of in February, when she reached her first final in four years in Thailand, where the player who beat her was Zhu.

The Ukrainian also got to the fourth round of both the French Open and Wimbledon, matching her best performances at both tournaments.

She has not played much tennis since then though, failing to qualify for both Montreal and Cincinnati.

Her last competitive action was at the US Open, where she reached the second round before losing in straight sets to Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Asian Games Silver Medalist Zhu

Zhu will be relishing the chance to play in front of a home crowd in Beijing, after the years of the pandemic health crisis which saw the country miss out on hosting top level tennis tournaments.

And she will step on court as a WTA winner, having won her maiden tour title in Thailand in February, where she was also the beaten finalist in the doubles.

She came close to adding a second title to her collection in Osaka earlier this month, but had to settle for the runners-up cheque in the end, beaten by the American Ashlyn Krueger in the final.

Since then, she has been competing in the Asian Games where she was the number two seed. She again got to the final, but had to content herself with the silver medal, beaten by compatriot and top seed, Qinwen Zheng in straight sets.

Tsurenko v Zhu Prediction and Tip

Whilst Tsurenko has the better head to head record, this time she is playing Zhu in her own back yard. The Ukrainian has not played much tennis recently, whereas Zhu has a lot of recent matches behind her, and is at the top of her game.

Zhu should win this match without too much difficulty/
