Fils Has Had a Promising Season So Far
Nineteen-year-old Arthur Fils has had a wonderful season so far. The Frenchman started the season at no. 251, but has consistently climbed the rankings, breaking into the top 100 in May and then top 50 in July.
Currently sitting on a career-high ranking of no. 44, Fils has a 1-3 record at the Masters level.
He has, however, not won a match since winning the first round contest at the US Open, which was also his first win at a Grand Slam. Since then, he lost in the second round at the US Open, lost his Davis Cup match and also his Laver Cup singles match.
So his recent form is slightly concerning, as he has won just one match in the last five tournaments.
However, he has a 34-19 across levels this season and has consistently made deep runs in tour level events.
He was a champion in Lyon, and a semifinalist in Hamburg, Montpellier and Marseille. besides he also won a Challenger title in Oeiras-6 and had a runner-up finish in Quimper Challenger.
He will be looking to make a good start by returning to winning ways.

Kotov Searching for Consistency
Pavel Kotov has had an up and down season so far as a result, his ranking has also fluctuated and he has been in and out of the top 100.
The 24-year-old Russian is 36-29 across levels this year and 13-13 on hard courts.
He reached his maiden ATP semifinal in Marrakech this year and was also a quarterfinalist in Mallorca in two of his best performances this season.
More recently, he made it to the round of 16 in Chengdu after qualifying for the main draw, but failed to qualify for the China Open.
