There have been three previous meetings between these two and Ostapenko has won two of them. Samsonova did win in their latest meeting which came in Madrid earlier this year.

Ostapenko v Samsonova Match Winning Odds*

Ostapenko Continues to Punish Top 10 Players

Jessica Pegula became the latest casualty at the hands of Ostapenko when she went down to the former French Open champion in straight sets in the third round here.

Ostapenko, who sent the then-world number one Iga Swiatek out of the competition at the US Open, continued to make life difficult for the top players in the world as she registered a punching 6-4, 6-2 win over Pegula.

Despite having come into the match as an 8/5 underdog, Ostapenko never really looked to be in any sort of a trouble despite falling a break behind twice in the first set. She broke Pegula right back and then added a third one in the 10th game when the American served to stay in the set.

In the second, the gap between the two players became even more pronounced as Ostapenko pounded a few winners and broke Pegula twice without any return.

The Latvian number one will now be a favourite to take down another opponent and propel into the semifinal. Can she bring her A-game to the table again?

Samsonova Scrapes Past Kostyuk

It took Samsonova nearly three hours to live up to her favourite odds against Marta Kostyuk when the pair clashed in the third round in Beijing.

Samsonova, who had registered straight-set wins over Alycia Parks and Petra Kvitova in the first two rounds of this competition, was taken to three sets by Kostyuk before she finally clinched her place in the quarterfinals.

Having last won three successive matches in the tournament in Montreal in August, Samsonova added another such sequence to her season despite facing 13 break-points and losing her serve five times. She broke Kostyuk seven times in return, winning 6-4, 6-7 (4), 7-5.

What Samsonova now needs is a way better serving game come her quarterfinal against a player who has been in superlative touch. She will need to do a lot better than what she did against Kostyuk to hold a chance here.

Ostapenko v Samsonova Prediction and Tip

Backing Ostapenko to win this and not just that, given the manner in which she has been going on deep runs we believe she might believe she can go all the way in the tournament. Expect a straight-set win here.
