Iga Swiatek v Caroline Garcia Head to Head

There have been three previous meetings between these two players and Swiatek leads 2-1. Interestingly, Garcia’s only win over Swiatek came on the clay courts of Warsaw last year, the Polish player’s favourite surface and in her own backyard.

Swiatek v Garcia Match Winning Odds*

Swiatek Routs Linette

It looks Swiatek is slowly getting back to her best as the one-sided straight-setters are stacking up in her favour again.

After having dropped seven games in her first round win over Sara Sorribes Tormo and losing five to Varvara Gracheva, Swiatek clinched a 6-1, 6-1 win over the Polish number two Magda Linette in the third round.

In a match that lasted a mere 66 minutes, Swiatek lost just eight points on her own serve while breaking her opponent five times in the encounter. Swiatek did not face a single break-point.

She will now hope to pull away from a player who has also shown a steady return to some of her long-lost rhythm but hasn’t won a lot against top-10 players in recent times.

Garcia Has No Problems against Kalinina

It was expected to be a closer match than it eventually turned out as Garcia pulled off an easy straight-set win over Anhelina Kalinina in her third round.

Garcia, who has fallen to 10th in the world thanks to a rather underwhelming streak of form, looked to have rediscovered some of her rhythm in Guadalajara where she had made the semifinal.

And here, after overcoming Kateryna Baindl and edging past Yulia Putintseva, Garcia has won three in a row yet again by defeating Kalinina 6-3, 6-2. The match lasted an hour and 26 minutes.

An exchange of breaks in the first five games of the opening set saw them tie at 3-3 but from that point onward, it was Garcia who took total control of the encounter. She won nine of the following 11 games, facing only four more break-points from there.

Can she now overturn the odds when she takes on Swiatek?

Swiatek v Garcia Prediction and Tip

Swiatek shouldn’t have a lot of trouble here we feel despite Garcia’s welcome return to form. Expect a straight-set victory for the Polish player.
