Amanda Anisimova v Beatriz Haddad Maia Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

Anisimova Reaches her First Semifinal of the Season

Ever since turning pro back in 2016, the 17-year-old Anisimova has impressed a lot of players on the WTA Tour with her incredible performances.

Earlier this season, she was a quarterfinalist in Auckland and later, reached the fourth round in the Australian Open. She achieved this feat after upsetting Lesia Tsurenko and Aryna Sabalenka. After that, however, the American lost early in Indian Wells and Miami but was still a constant part of the top 100.

In Bogota, she has delivered what is undoubtedly a sensational performance. She started with a three-set win over the German veteran Sabine Lisicki in the first round and then defeated Varvara Lepchenko in straight sets.

In the quarterfinal, she met the Colombian teenager Maria Camila Osorio Serrano and overcame her in three demanding sets. With that win, she reached her first semifinal on the tour since the 2018 WTA Hiroshima last season, where she was the runner-up.

Haddad Maia Looking Confident in Bogota

The young Brazilian started the tournament as a qualifier and has done exceptionally well to reach the semifinal. She started her campaign with a good win over Laura Siegemund. Then, defeated Anna Karolina Schmiedlova and Sara Sorribes Tormo.

Her match against Schmiedlova was particularly challenging, with both the sets being pulled to tie-breakers. Nonetheless, Beatriz managed to keep the defending champion at bay.

Haddad Maia has spent most of her season so far playing as a qualifier. Ranked in the late 100s, she started as a qualifier in the Australian Open and WTA Acapulco, reaching the second round and the quarterfinal respectively. These were her best results of the season.

Just like Anisimova, she too is seeking her first singles title of the career.

Anisimova v Haddad Maia Prediction and Tips:

This is an evenly matched fixture that can very well go either way. While Anisimova is still young and lacks the experience, she is more than capable of defeating top players. In fact, in the Indian Wells last year, she stunned Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Petra Kvitova.

At the same time, she is still prone to defeats as seen on many occasions this season. As for Beatriz Haddad Maia, she hasn’t had that perfect of a run either. However, her experience over the American may come in handy here.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 11/10 (Unibet)
