Petra Kvitova v Greet Minnen Head to Head

This will be the first ever meeting between the 29-year-old Kvitova and 21-year-old Minnen.

Kvitova Kick-Starts Clay Swing with Good Form So Far

While clay isn’t Kvitova’s most preferred surface, by no stretch can one call it her Achilles Heel. Four of her 26 titles at the highest level have come on clay, including two last season when she won the Prague Open and the Madrid Open to go into the French Open as one of the top favourites to go the distance. Unfortunately for her, she fell away in two tight sets to Annet Kontaveit at Roland-Garros but that’s a season that should give a player tremendous boost coming into this year.

And 2019 has been no different for the Czech, who has already grabbed her first title this year at the Sydney International and then made it to the final of the Australian Open. In an emotional match, Kvitova went down fighting to Naomi Osaka in three sets, but having returned from a personal turmoil after her stabbing, it is a result that holds her in a very good stead.

She is now facing a 192nd-ranked player, who last played a WTA competition as far back as in January.

Can Minnen Push Kvitova?

As mentioned earlier, Minnen’s current ranking of 192 is also her best ever, so she is a player on the ascent but most of her competitions this year have come at the lower level of the circuit. She did feature at the Hobart International earlier where she qualified to the main draw and then made it as far as the quarter-final but since then she has been performing at the ITF level.

And at those levels, the performances have been consistent, with a win-loss record of 24-9 that consists of a title at Yokohama and a four-match winning run here at Stuttgart including the qualifiers. Minnen defeated Dominika Cibulkova in the first round in straight sets to set up this meeting with Kvitova.

Kvitova v Minnen Predictions & Tips

It comes as no surprise that Kvitova is an overwhelming favourite here but odds of 4/19 for her win and 4/7 for a straight-set win are good ones to look at. It’s a low-risk call for Kvitova to win this and even do that in two sets.

Tip: Kvitova to win in straight sets: 4/7  (Unibet)
