Konta Looking to Capitalise on her Recent Success
Konta’s run so far in Paris has been nothing short of brilliant. This is the first time in her career that Konta has made it to the third round in the Roland Garros.
It has been an interesting journey for her so far, starting with a straight-set win over the German qualifier Antonia Lottner. Luck Favours Kuzmova
After starting her journey in Paris with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Alize Cornet, Kuzmova was bound to play Kiki Bertens in the second round. However, the Dutchwoman retired early in the first set due to illness – this allowed the unseeded Slovak to reach the third round. It is also the second time this season that Kuzmova won against Bertens.
Just like Konta, this is Kuzmova’s best performance in Paris. Her highlights this season include a semifinal run in Auckland and reaching the fourth round in Dubai. Kuzmova is yet to reach a final on the WTA Tour.
The 21-year-old hasn’t really made a dent but now, she has the perfect platform to stake her claim.
