Juan Martin del Potro v Denis Shapovalov Head to Head

The two players have met twice on the ATP circuit with the record at 1-1. Del Potro won last year at the Auckland Open, but lost to Shapovalov in 2017 at the ATP Masters in Montreal.

Del Potro Looking for Another Good Swing on Grass

The Tower of Tandil, Juan Martin Del Potro returned to action mid-way through the clay court season, after yet another injury that has seen him out of action for most of the time, since the Shanghai Masters 1000 last October.

The 2009 US Open winner at the age of 19, has had a career plagued with multiple injuries, but returned each time strong and proven why he is still a force to reckon with on the tour, regardless of the surface.

DelPotro had a promising 2018, winning his first ever ATP Masters 1000 at Indian Wells, as well as being the losing finalist at the 2018 US Open final to Novak Djokovic. The Argentine had qualified for the year end ATP Tour Finals in London last year, as well as reaching a career high ranking of world number. However, he had to withdraw from the year end tournament due to a recurring knee injury.

With a big serve and powerful forehand, DelPotro has done well on the grass in the past being a Wimbledon semi-finalist. His 2018 Wimbledon campaign saw him reaching the quarter-finals, where he lost an epic five setter to Rafael Nadal.

The Argentine will look to a good run at the Queens Club, giving him the much needed confidence, ahead of Wimbledon.

Shapovalov Aiming For Consistency on Tour

‘Next Gen’ sensation Denis Shapovalov has been an exciting prospect on the tour for the last two years. With some noteworthy results and scintillating performances, the young Canadian has joined the brigade of players tipped to take over from the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

With a game full of flair, and flashy strokes, Shapovalov is great to watch and has broken into the top 30 players on the ATP circuit in a very short period of time. The Canadian has however lacked in consistency with simultaneous strong victories and disappointing losses becoming the trend.

With an early loss in the singles at the Stuttgart ATP 250 this week, Shapovalov will be encouraged by being runner-up at the doubles, along with Indian Rohan Bopanna. The Canadian will be looking to a good showing this week, ahead of the third major of the year in a couple of weeks from now.
