Felix Auger-Aliassime v Feliciano Lopez Head to Head

The two men have never played each other before. This will be the first meeting between the Canadian teenager, and the Spaniard, almost two decades his senior.

Auger-Aliassime’s Remarkable Rise

The teenager’s remarkable rise to the top of the tennis game continues apace, after he pulled off one of the biggest wins of his fledgling career so far, beating the number one seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets on Friday. If he beats Lopez he will break into the world’s top twenty for the first time – a meteoric rise up the rankings, given that he was ranked 172 just a year ago.

He has already made three finals this year – in Rio, Lyon and last week, at the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart, and, although he has yet to claim the ultimate prize in any senior event, that is now surely a matter of when, and not, if.

And, given that he also made the semi-finals at the Miami Masters as well, he will feel that he has now earned his place at the top table, and may be considered a dark horse to do well at Wimbledon this year as well.

Spanish Veteran Continuing to Perform Well on Grass

Lopez, who will turn 38 in September, is very much at the veteran stage of his career. Yet, he has rolled back the years with his performances this week, both on the singles court, but also in the doubles, where he has been partnering Andy Murray in his return from injury.

The Spaniard likes this tournament. He won it in 2017, and was the runner-up here in 2014. And he does enjoy playing on grass of England, having won the event at Eastbourne twice, and reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon on no fewer than three occasions.

Auger-Aliassime v Lopez Predictions & Tips

Auger-Aliassime is the odds-on favourite for this match at 3/7, whilst Lopez is priced at 11/5. Lopez has a history of success in this tournament, but the 18-year old Canadian is in the form of his young life, and is set to continue his surge to the top.

Tip: Auger-Aliassime to win in three sets: 1/1 (888Sport)
