Bencic v Kenin Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA circuit.

Bencic Off to a Great Start on Grass

Belinda Bencic is one of the many players who like to play on the grass surface. It is where she won her first singles title in Eastbourne in 2015. Also, her best performance in Grand Slams came at the Wimbledon, where she reached the fourth round twice.

Now, she is off to repeat a similar run on the back of what has been a brilliant week in Mallorca. Starting as the third seed, she initially defeated Rebecca Peterson and Shelby Rogers after which, she moved past Amanda Anisimova.

In the semifinal, the Swiss met Angelique Kerber and with the help of 40 winners and some determination, she won the match in three sets. She staged a pretty impressive comeback and is now primed to go the distance.

A few months back, she won the title in Dubai – her first one since the Canadian Open. Bencic also made it to the semifinal in the Indian Wells Open and quarterfinal in Charleston. Her clay season, however, was unexciting apart from when she reached the semifinal in Madrid, knocking out Naomi Osaka on the way.

Kenin – A Force to be Reckoned With

This season has brought about a major breakthrough for the 20-year-old American. Currently World No. 30, Kenin has reached three finals already this year – including the one in Mallorca.

She won the title in Hobart and later was the runner-up in the Mexico Open. Among her most recent accomplishments, there’s her fourth-round feat in the French Open, where she defeated Serena Williams in the third round 6-2, 7-5.

In Mallorca, she faced little resistance on her course to the final. Standing in her way were Kirsten Flipkens, Elise Mertens, and Ons Jabeur. In the semifinal, she stopped Anastasija Sevastova in three sets.

Bencic v Kenin Predictions & Tips

This is going to be an entertaining affair that can go either way. Bencic will start this match as the favourite to win but Kenin, a rising force on the tour, can very well make things complicated. However, my gut feeling says Bencic will get this one, given her fairly superior form on grass.

Tip: Bencic to win 2-1. (888Sport)
