Caroline Wozniacki v Aryna Sabalenka Head to Head

The head to head tally is currently tied at 1-1, with Sabalenka winning their last match in Montreal. Interestingly, both of these fixtures took place in 2018.

Wozniacki first defeated the Belarusian in the final in Eastbourne to deny her the title.

Wozniacki Finding her Footing

Caroline, who is playing in Eastbourne as the number 11 seed, has so far enjoyed a good run. In fact, it is the first time since WTA Charleston that the Dane has made it past the first round.

After a disastrous spell on clay, Wozniacki returned to action here in the Nature Valley International, where she defeated Kirsten Flipkens and Andrea Petkovic in straight sets. She now faces Sabalenka, who will be eager to exact her revenge.

Both of Wozniacki’s two grass titles came in Eastbourne and additionally, she also reached the semifinal here on three distinct occasions. It is a special tournament for former World No. 1 and irrespective of the form she is in, she always manages to deliver good results.

Sabalenka Looking for a Big Win

It goes without saying that last year’s final defeat in Eastbourne will be driving Sabalenka to go the distance this time around. With this, she will also be inspired to turn around her recent slump.

Having enjoyed a bye into the second round, she started her campaign with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Tamara Zidansek. That win also marked her best result on grass this season so far, given that the Belarusian lost in the first round in ‘S-Hertogenbosch and Birmingham.

World No. 10 hasn’t looked that sharp in the recent weeks. Except in Strasbourg where she reached the semifinal, Sabalenka is yet to put up a commanding performance. In big events like the Madrid Open, Italian Open, and French Open, she succumbed in the early rounds.

Wozniacki v Sabalenka Predictions & Tips

Wozniacki is a superior player in terms of experience and momentum on the grass in this fixture. While she will start as the favourite to win, it may not be an easy win for her, in comparison to the ones she bagged against Flipkens and Petkovic. Sabalenka herself is going through a bit of a rough patch and that is something that the Dane will look to capitalize on.
