Daniil Medvedev v Paolo Lorenzi Head to Head
The two men have played each other once before on the hard courts of Sydney in 2018, with the Russian winning that match in straight sets.
Medvedev Looking to Improve on 2018
This will be the third time that 23 year old Medvedev has entered the main Wimbledon draw, and he will be hoping to improve on last year, when he reached the third round and led Kevin Anderson by two sets, and had match point in the third, only to eventually succumb to the South African.
Winner of four ATP titles in the past 18 months, Medvedev is one of the form players on tour – no man has reached 10, or 20, wins quicker this year. And, last season he finished with the most wins of any player on hard courts.
This will be his third grass tournament of the season. He was beaten in the second round in Stuttgart, but then reached the semi-finals at the Queen’s Club, only to lose to another Frenchman, Gilles Simon.
Italian Veteran Lorenzi Looking to Advance
At 37 years old, Lorenzi is very much at the veteran stage of his career. He turned pro in 2003, but success came relatively late in his tennis life for the Roman. He did not reach his first ATP final until Sao Paolo in Brazil, and it was two years later that he claimed his solitary senior title, the Generali Open in Kitzbuhel.
Most of his time is spent on the Challenger Tour where his best result of the year came in Savannah, where he was a beaten finalist. This will be his first Grand Slam event of the year – he failed to qualify for either Melbourne or Roland Garros.
However, he has reached the second round at the All-England Club for the past two years.
Medvedev v Lorenzi Predictions & Tips
Medvedev is the overwhelming favourite to win this match at 1/33, whilst Lorenzi is priced as long as 20/1. It is difficult to see any other outcome than a straight sets won for the Russian. He is one of the men in form on the tour, and has 14 years advantage over his Italian opponent.
