Stefanos Tsitsipas v Hubert Hurkacz Head to Head

The pair have played each other three times before, with Tsitsipas winning on each occasion. The first of those wins came last year in the Next Gen ATP Finals in Italy, with the two other victories both coming this year, in Marseilles and Dubai.

Tsitsipas, Best of The Next Generation

Runner-up in this tournament to Rafael Nadal last year, 20 year old Greek Tsitsipas has overtaken Alexander Zverev in the world rankings and, in the process, has become the man most tipped from the next generation to overturn the established order and make a breakthrough in Grand Slams.

And that was underlined in Melbourne this year when he beat Roger Federer en route to the semi-finals, before his run was ended again by his nemesis, Nadal.

He has already won two titles this year, in Marseilles and Estoril, to add to his victory at the Swedish Open in 2018, and reached the final in Dubai as well, before Federer got his revenge. However, he was beaten in the first round in Roland Garros and Wimbledon and, in his last event, the Washington Open where he was the top seed, he lost to Nick Kyrgios in the semi-finals.

Hurkacz, Last Minute Alternate for Raonic

The world number 44 Hurkacz had a string of notable results earlier in the season, beating Kei Nishikori both in Dubai and then in Indian Wells, where he reached the quarter finals, and Dominic Thiem in Miami. He also won the Challenger Tour title in Canberra and was a semi-finalist in Quimper.

His results have tailed off since then, although he did reach the quarter-finals in Eastbourne.

Hurkacz was not originally scheduled to be playing in the Rogers Cup this week, but was drafted in at the last minute as a replacement for home favourite Milos Raonic, who was forced to withdraw from the event with a back injury.

He took full advantage of his opportunity by beating one of the form players on tour on Monday, Taylor Fritz of America, winner in Eastbourne, and runner-up in Atlanta and Los Cabos, in straight sets.

Tsitsipas v Hurkcaz Predictions & Tips

Tsitsipas is the odds-on favourite to win this match at 29/100, whilst Hurkacz is priced at 13/5. The Greek has won all their previous matches, and it is hard to see the Pole snap that losing sequence this time.

Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 5/6 (888Sport)
