Milos Raonic v Felix Auger-Aliassime Head to Head

The two Canadians have met once on the tour at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 in 2018, with Raonic winning in straight sets. The younger Canadian has evolved considerably as a player since then. They were scheduled to meet at the ATP 250 in Stuttgart earlier this year but Auger- Aliassime had to withdraw due to fitness concerns.

Auger-Aliassime Looking to Continue Breakthrough 2019

18-year-old Felix Auger – Aliassime burst onto the ATP scene after success at the ITF and ATP Challenger levels. He is in his second year on the ATP circuit and has already reached a career high ranking of number 21.

2019 has been a breakthrough year for the Canadian, making the finals of both the Rio Open earlier this year, and the Stuttgart ATP250 last month. He also made the semifinals of the Miami Open ATP Masters 1000, before losing to Roger Federer.

Auger-Alliasime is an all-court tennis player with a very effective serve, a decent volley and excellent athleticism. His ground strokes are precise as he can make his opponent run on court and finish up at the net.

Hailed by many including Andy Roddick and Rafael Nadal as the next best prospect, the young Canadian made a winning debut against countryman Vasek Pospisil winning in a final set tiebreak.

Raonic Looking to Resurrect Season Further at Home

28-year-old Canadian Milos Raonic was ranked number three in the world in late 2016, after a strong year, that saw him make the Wimbledon finals defeating Roger Federer, as well as the Australian Open semi-finals.

With a spate of injuries, the Canadian fell down the rankings and the journey back has been challenging and inconsistent. 2019 has been a mixed year with some encouraging results like the Australian Open quarter finals followed by disappointments like a first round loss at the Citi Open in Washington DC last week.

The big serving Canadian looked strong in his opener against Frenchman Lucas Pouille and won in straight sets 6-4,6-4, avenging his quarter final loss in Melbourne at the first major of the year. Raonic had a perfect serving match and when that is the case, he is hard to crack.

Milos Raonic v Felix Auger-Aliassime Predictions & Tips

This battle between the two Canadians promises to be the match of the day. Both have big weapons, with Raonic’s serve and Auger- Aliassime’s shot making. There is not much to choose between these two and it may well come down to who plays the big points better.

The crucial factor here is undoubtedly the Raonic serve. If he serves as well as he did against Pouille in the first round, he will be difficult to break and that will put pressure on the teenager.

Expect an entertaining match with the crowds completely dialed in; Raonic to win a close three-setter.

Tip: Raonic to win in three sets in: 3/1 (888Sport)
