Alexander Zverev v Milos Raonic Head to Head

This will be the fourth meeting between both players and the first ever at the Laver Cup. Raonic leads the head-to-head 2-1, winning the last two meetings, a five-setter at Wimbledon in 2017, and a convincing straight set win this year at the Australian Open.

Zverev Hoping To Add Crucial Win To Resurrect Season

Alexander Zverev is playing his third consecutive Laver Cup and has been an integral member of Team Europe. Prior to his loss on Day Two here in Geneva to John Isner, Zverev had an unbeaten record in the four singles matches played by him at the Laver Cup.

In Chicago, Zverev won the crucial match against Kevin Anderson to give Team Europe the unassialable lead and in turn the Laver Cup win. If the Geneva edition of the Laver Cup goes down to a decider, Zverev will be in a similar position again.

After a strong 2018, where he was world number three, won the year end ATP Tour Finals in London and the Masters 1000 in Madrid, 2019 has not been so good for the German. Apart from winning one ATP 250, also in Geneva, it has been a rather below par season for Zverev, with several disappointing land early losses, putting him in a tight race to even qualify for the year end finals this year.

Raonic Looking For Maiden Laver Cup Win

Canadian Milos Raonic is making his debut at the Laver Cup, and his first match ended in a straight set loss to Rafael Nadal. Raonic was supposed to be part of Team World in the first edition in Prague, but had pulled out due to injury.

In his opener against Nadal, Raonic had eight broke points in the first three service games of the Spaniard, but could not convert any and it was only a matter of time before the Mallorcan took control of matters.

Similar to Zverev, Raonic has not had a convincing 2019. In fact he has been out of sorts for the last season and a half, coupled with time-off due to injuries. Once ranked in the top five in the world, the big serving Canadian, has of late looked a shadow of the player that reached the 2016 Wimbledon final.

He began the season well this year with an Australian Open quarter-final showing and an Indian Wells semi-final appearance, but lost his way a little thereafter.

Zverev v Raonic Predictions & Tips

If the two players do end up playing on Day Three, we know it will be a high pressure Laver Cup decider. Both players are a little low on confidence at the moment, with Raonic perhaps a little low on match practice too.

A lot will depend on the occasion and a deciding match number 12 will also boil down to the crowd and the conditions. The Geneva crowd will be all behind Zverev and that will play a crucial role as well.

With Federer, Nadal, Borg and the Swiss crowd coaching and rooting for him respectively, expect Zverev to clinch the Laver Cup for Team Europe, if we have a deciding rubber.
