Reilly Opelka v John Millman Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first meeting between the 22 year old American, and the Australian, eight years his senior.

Second Final of 2019 for Big-Serving Opelka

World number 53 Opelka, at 6 feet inches, has the distinction of being the joint tallest man ever to play professional tennis. He is also one of the fastest servers on tour, and won his first ever senior title in New York in February.

Apart from that win, his best other performance this year came in Atlanta where he reached the semi-finals.

He has reached this stage of the competition without dropping a set so far this week. He began by beating the number seven seed, fellow American Taylor Fritz, and then defeated Gilles Simon of France, although he needed two tie-breaks to do so.

In the quarter-finals he ended the hopes of local Japanese favourite Yasutaka Uchiyama, serving 16 aces in the process.

Australian Qualifier Millman Hoping for a Surprise

Millman was ranked as high as 33 in the world at one stage last year, but a loss of form has seen him slide down the rankings. He has yet to win a senior ATP title , but has won 12 Challenger tour tournaments, the most recent of which came in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, last month.

The Australian had to come through two rounds of qualifying just to make the main draw in Tokyo. Having done so though, he has earned his place in the last four with a series of solid performances. First he beat Adrian Mannarino of France, runner-up in Zhuhai, in three sets.

Then he defeated Lloyd Harris of South Africa, semi-finalist in Chengdu a week ago. And then, like his opponent on Saturday, he ended the challenge of another Japanese man in this tournament, in the form of Taro Daniel.

Opelka v Millman Predictions & Tips

Opelka is the marginal favourite to win this match at  5/6, whilst Millman is priced at 5/4. Neither man was seeded at this tournament so it is something of a surprise to see either of them in the semi-finals, but Opelka’s serve may just give him the edge.

Tip: Opelka to win in straight sets: 7/4 (888Sport)
