Roger Federer v Alexander Zverev Head to Head
Both the players have met nine times in their careers so far. Federer leads the record having won five matches. Their record on hard courts is even with both the players have won three matches each.
“Fortunate” Federer Marches on
20-time Grand Slam champion, Federer had to dig really deep to come through against David Goffin. The Swiss maestro started the game in a rusty fashion after having to save many breakpoints and win the first set in a tight tiebreaker. He is coming off an impressive straight-sets victory over talented Russian, Andrey Rublev, also inflicting a bagel in the first set. He has had a solid season so far, reaching three finals and added one title to his name in Geneva.

If Federer has another one of his off days like he had today against Goffin, Zverev is more then capable of punishing him. The German has an excellent baseline game and likes to wear the opponents out. Having won all six five-set matches he has played in this year is proof of that.
But the faster courts in Shanghai will play to Federer’s advantage. His serve and return game has bailed him out on multiple occasions this week. And it should be enough once again to see him through.
