Kiki Bertens v Dayana Yastremska Head to Head

The two players met as recently as the Beijing Open just a few weeks back. Bertens won that match in straight sets.

Bertens, Primed to Reach the Semis

Top seed and World No. 10 Kiki Bertens has had a fantastic season so far and now, she looks ready to seal the year with a title run in Zhuhai. With a strike-rate of 51-24 and two singles titles (Madrid Open and St. Petersburg Open), she is definitely among the top favourites in the competition.

She started her campaign with a straight-set win over Donna Vekic, putting her in the pole position already. Even though Bertens’ form dipped significantly in the Asian Swing as well as the US Open Series, courtesy of her early round exits, she found her groove just in time to end the year on a positive note. In Beijing, she had a convincing run to the semifinal, defeating the likes of Elina Svitolina and Vekic, and then in Moscow and Linz, she reached the quarterfinal.

Keeping her slump in Asia and the US aside, the Dutchwoman has been more or less consistent on the whole this season. She is one of the handful of players to have recorded 50+ wins on the tour in 2019, which speaks scores about commitment and determination.

Yastremska, in a Decent Form

Just like Bertens, Yastremska too started her campaign in Zhuhai with a fantastic win over Donna Vekic. The young Ukrainian has had a brilliant run this season, having reached her career-best singles ranking as World No. 23. What helped her achieve this feat was her performance in the Hua Hin Championships and the WTA Strasbourg, where she won the titles.

In the recent weeks, she registered a quarterfinal in Wuhan and Tianjin, negated only by her early exits in Moscow and Beijing. Like most players, the 19-year-old too has had the problems with lack of consistency. However, given her age, she has definitely done a wonderful job so far and has a bright future ahead of her. Through the season, she has knocked out some big names like Garbine Muguruza, Aryna Sabalenka, and Karolina Pliskova.

Bertens v Yastremska Predictions & Tips

This is going to be a brilliant fixture to follow although Bertens, given her recent form and experience, should get past Yastremska at the end of the day.
