Karolina Muchova v Aryna Sabalenka Head to Head

The two ladies have never met before on the WTA Tour.

Sabalenka, with a Commanding Performance

Aryna Sabalenka, the 21-year-old Belorussian started the season with a title run in Shenzhen and later, she successfully defended her title in the Wuhan Open as well. Between these two tournaments, she had a spell that saw her win a few matches, lost a few matches, and struggle with her form on the whole.

For a short while, she was a part of the top 10, thanks to her solid start to the season but her lack of consistency didn’t allow her to stay there for long. In many tournaments, Sabalenka ended up losing rather in the early stages of the competition in many cases but then, when she did win, it was convincing.

Case in point, her performance in Zhuhai has been absolutely brilliant with straight-set wins over the likes of Elise Mertens and Maria Sakkari. She made it to the semifinal without as much as batting and eye and now, looks to end the year on solid note.

Muchova, a Definite Threat

The 23-year-old Czech Karolina Muchova has had an epic season with a strike-rate of 36-13. With a title run in Seoul, as recently as the last month, the number 11 seed has had quite a season. Currently enjoying her career-best singles ranking as World No. 26, she has had a pretty splendid year with a quarterfinal run at the Wimbledon and Doha, and a runner-up feat in Prague.

Most recently, she reached the semifinal in the Kremlin Cup, losing ultimately to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. However, up until then, she had moved past the likes of Donna Vekic and Ekaterina Alexandrova. Similarly, in Zhuhai, she defeated Alison Riske and Sofia Kenin to win her group. Clearly, the young Czech has a bright future ahead of her and we can expect to see her shine some more in 2020.

Muchova v Sabalenka Predictions & Tips

In many ways, this will be an evenly matched fixture. While Sabalenka has had a decent year, she hasn’t been entirely invincible. Muchova has definitely got the skill-set needed to knock out her opponent but then, it will all come down to the moment of the match itself.

Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 17/20 at 888Sport
