Alexander Zverev v Fernando Verdasco Predictions & Preview

Fernando Verdasco leads the head-to-head with Zverev 2-1, with their last meeting on the French Open clay, that was won by Verdasco.

After winning the ATP Tour Finals at the end of last year, it has not been the most promising of years for Alexander Zverev. Several early round losses, as well as off court issues have taken centerstage for most of his season. After a key win in the Laver Cup, Zverev has looked in more commanding form during the Asian swing and will hope for a good run here to solidify his spot at the ATP Tour Finals in London next month.

While former top ten player Fernando Verdasco maybe hearing toward the end of his career, at 35 years of age, he is one that can never be ruled out. Despite falling in the rankings, the Spanish veteran continues to spring victories against better ranked players, defeating Nikoloz Basilashvili last week in Vienna and Borna Coric in the previous round here in Paris.

A tough match ahead for Zverev against an opponent he must not take lightly. Expect a contest ahead of us, with Zverev winning in two tight sets.

Tip: Zverev to win in two sets.

Karen Khachanov v Jan-Lennard Struff Predictions & Preview

Karen Khachanov defeated Jan-Lennard Struff on the grass courts at Halle earlier this year, in a tight three-setter, which was also the only time the players have met.

Khachanov is the defending champion here at the Paris Masters, a title he won last year defeating Novak Djokovic in the final. While that title win promised a lot, young Khachanov has not lived up to expectations this year, in what has been a disappointing year for him. Early round losses at familiar venues like St.Petersburg, and Moscow among others, would have left his confidence levels depleted. Failure to do well this week in Paris, would see the Russian’s ranking drop several notches.

German Struff who has been on the tour for a while, has had a consistent season breaking into the top 40 in the world. With a big serve and solid groundstrokes, Struff proved himself as a force to be through the hard court season as well as on the slower surfaces. The German also proved his ability to win the big matches with defeats of top ten players like Alexander Zverev.

A battle of big servers and big games makes it hard to pick a winner, but Khachanov may just pull through in a three-setter.

Tip: Khachanov to win in three sets.

Grigor Dimitrov v Ugo Humbert  Predictions & Preview

This is the first ever meeting between Grigor Dimitrov and Ugo Humbert.

Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov has had a disappointing last year or so. He was ranked number three in the world after winning the ATP Tour Finals in 2017. But, after what has been a year of several disappointing performances, Dimitrov fell to outside the top 75 in the world earlier this summer. A semi-finals showing at the US Open defeating Roger Federer en route assisted him move back up to number 28 in the world. However, Dimitrov was unable to capitalize on any momentum from the US Open and has been below par during the Asian swing and European indoor seasons.

Young Frenchman Ugo Humbert has had an impressive year on the tour, being ranked just outside the top 50 in the world. Humbert did well to make the second week at Wimbledon and followed it with a semi-finals showing at the European Open in Antwerp earlier this month. The young Frenchman surprised all by upsetting Belgian David Goffin in front of his home fans.

While Humbert has all the tools to defeat Dimitrov at the moment, expect Dimitrov to come through this won in a tight three-setter.

Tip: Dimitrov to win in three sets.

Daniil Medvedev v Jeremy Chardy  Predictions & Preview

Daniil Medvedev and Jeremy Chardy meet for the third time in their careers. While Chardy won at Queens Club in 2018, Medvedev won earlier this year in Rotterdam.

It has been a sensational year for Medvedev who has reached six consecutive finals on the hard and indoor courts, winning two Masters 1000s and being a finalist at the US Open. Medvedev is ranked number four in the world right now, and has secured his place at the ATP Tour Finals in London. The Russian has been managing his schedule lately to recover from fatigue and will definitely start the Paris Role Masters as one of the favorites

French veteran Jeremy Chardy, who was once ranked in the top 25 in the world, has not had a particularly encouraging last two seasons. Despite a finals appearance at the ATP 250 in Rosmalen last year, the Frenchman has not done much of note of late. However, the faster surfaces and home crowd will encourage Chardy, who will look to end his season with a good run here.

Medvede in recent times has been unstoppable and expect that trend to continue here too.

Tip: Medvedev to win in two sets.
