Casper Ruud v Miomir Kecmanovic Head to Head

The pair have played once before, in Zhuhai in September, when Ruud was forced to retire from their match with injury, after Kecmanovic took the first set 6 – 2.

Ruud, Finally Makes it to Milan

Ruud is the number four seed in Milan this week, and has finally qualified for this event two years after blowing his chance to reach these finals as an 18 year old. That is when he spurned a match point in the semi-finals of the Rio Open that would have earned him enough points to qualify for that year’s tournament.

It took him time to recover from that setback, but he has gradually worked his way up the rankings, and comes into Milan the world 56 after a year which saw him reach his first ATP final, the US Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston in April, where he lost in three sets to Christian Garin of Chile.

He also reached two semi-finals in 2019 – in Sao Paolo and Kitzbuhel – and was a quarter-finalist in Rio and St. Petersburg, and will be looking for a good run this week, to help set himself up for a renewed assault on the rankings in 2020.

Kecmanovic, Breakthrough Year on Tour

Runner-up to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the US Junior Open Final in 2016, Kecmanovic did not even win his first senior ATP singles match until he beat Leonardo Mayer of Argentina in Brisbane in January.

Since then he has passed a number of career milestones, including his first Masters quarter-final in March, where his run was ended by Milos Raonic. He then won his first match at a Grand Slam in June, reaching the second round at Roland Garros, before going on to Antalya in Turkey, where he reached his first ATP final, losing on grass to Lorenzo Sonego of Italy, despite taking the first set.

In August he reached the third round of the Cincinnati Masters and, in the process, achieved his first ever victory over a top ten player, beating Alexander Zverev of Germany in three sets in a second round match.

Ruud v Kecmanovic Fokina Predictions & Tips

Despite being ranked four places below the Norwegian, Kecmanovic is the favourite to win this match as 7/10, whilst Ruud is priced at 7/5. Those odds may be based on the inconclusive proof of their one match, when Ruud was injured, but also on the Serb’s superior record in Masters Events. It is likely to be a close match, regardless.
