Benoit Paire v Ugo Humbert Head to Head

This is the second meeting between Benoit Paire and Ugo Humbert on the tour. Their first meeting was in the round of 16 at Winston Salem in 2019 which Paire won in a close three-setter.

Paire Looking For Fourth ATP Title

Frenchman Benoit Paire has been on the circuit for more than a decade and was ranked within the top 20 in the world in 2016. Lack of consistency in both his game and temperament have been the reasons for him being unable to capitalize on his innate talent.

However, the last year has been a positive one for Paire winning two titles on the tour and moving up the rankings to just outside the top 20 again.

All has not been easy for Paire here in Adelaide. He was pushed to three sets in his opener by 2019 Next Gen ATP Finals winner Jannik Sinner and followed it with another two deciding set wins to qualify for the semi-finals.

Paire was up against in-form and favorite Hubert Hurkacz in the semi-finals and in another tight encounter prevailed with a stellar performance in the decider.

Having spent more time out than he would have liked, Paire maybe a little jaded but will be looking to enter the Australian Open with some well-deserved silverware this weekend.

Can Young Humbert Win First ATP Title?

2019 was a positive year for young and rising Next Gen Frenchman Ugo Humbert who made the fourth round at Wimbledon and moved up the rankings from outside the top 100 to number 57 at year-end.

The new decade has got off to a very positive start for Humbert who has looked sharp this week in Auckland.

The young Frenchman began with a win against fellow Next Gen Norwegian Casper Ruud and followed it up with an impressive win against the in-form young Canadian Denis Shapovalov.

Humbert was then up against the big serving American John Isner in the semi-finals. Although Isner had been in strong serving form, the young Frenchman put up a spirited performance to emerge victorious in straight sets.

An unexpected finalist, Humbert will be in an upbeat frame of mind going into the final as he seems to claim his first ATP title.

Benoit Paire v Ugo Humbert Predictions & Tips

An exciting clash of the Frenchman in a cross-generational clash awaits us in the finals at Auckland. Both have looked in good touch this week and this should be a close encounter.

Paire’s temperament and Humbert’s nerves (or lack thereof) will be crucial  in this match-up. Expect both players to give it their all but the experience of Paire should prevail in a close three-setter.

Tip: Paire to win in three sets: 13/4 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
