Dayana Yastremska v Caroline Wozniacki Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before, in the first round of the Cincinnati Masters last August, the Ukrainian winning in straight sets.

Yastremska, Budding Star of the Future

19 year old Yastremska is the second highest ranked teenage in the WTA standings after Bianca Andreescu, and is tipped as a likely future star.

She won her maiden WTA title in Hong Kong in 2018, and then added two more crowns last year, the Hua Hin Championship in Thailand, and the Internationaux de Strasbourg. She also reached her first Premier final in China in the doubles with Jelena Ostapenko, and qualified for the WTA Elite Trophy, the second-tier year end championship for women.

Beginning the year at a career high of 22 in the world rankings, she has already enjoyed some success this year, reaching the final in Adelaide last week before losing to the world number one Ashleigh Barty.

She beat the Slovenian Kaja Juvan easily in the first round, conceding just two games to her opponent.

Wozniacki Hoping to Extend Her Final Stay

The former world number one and 2018 champion here announced some time ago that this would be her final tournament on the WTA tour. She is to retire in order to pursue other projects outside tennis, including starting a family.

Despite now being ranked 36 in the world, after an injury-racked season last year, Wozniacki is playing to a higher level than that, as evidenced by her performance in Auckland, where she reached the semi-finals of the singles, before losing to the American Jessica Pegula. She also reached the final of the doubles with Serena Williams.

She had a comfortable victory in the first round, beating Kristie Ahn of the United States in straight sets, dominating on serve and the return.

Dayana Yastremska v Caroline Wozniacki Predictions & Tips

Wozniacki will doubtless have the majority of the crowd behind her for this match, with the Melbourne supporters hoping this will not be the last time they see her on a singles court. Despite that, this match, between a former and a future star of the game, may just tilt in favour of the fast-rising teenager, although the Dane will want to make her work for the win.
