Gael Monfils v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head

This is the fifth match between both players. The series is tied at 2-2, but this will be their first meeting on a hard court.

Monfils Aiming For Third Montpellier Title

2010 and 2014 winner Gael Monfils begins his quest for a third title at Montepllier against fellow countryman Adrian Mannarino.

Monfils comes to Montpellier after a decent start to the season, where he made the round of 16 at the Australian Open, before he was defeated by runner-up Dominic Thiem in straight sets.

The world number nine is the top seed here, and will look to repeat his successes on the indoor courts the way he did in 2019, which had moved him back into the top ten in the ATP rankings.

With the number three and four seeds, Grigor Dimitrov and Denis Shapovalov out of the tournament, Monfils will be aware that a leaner draw will bode well for a deep run here this week.

Unmatchable athleticism and strong groundstrokes are the highlights of the top seed’s game and on the faster courts here should be a handful for any opponent in the best of three set format.

Can Mannarino Upset His Charismatic Countryman?

Adrian Mannarino has been on the circuit for more than a decade, and although consistent, he has lacked the firepower in his playing style to make a mark on the big stage.

That being said, he has had a successful last two seasons, featuring in five ATP finals and winning his maiden ATP title last summer on the grass courts of Rosmalen in Netherlands.

Although he is currently ranked number 43 in the world, he was ranked just outside the top 20 during his successful last season and a half.

Mannarino won his first match of the year in the first round against rookie Aussie Alexei Popyrin in three sets and will look to make further inroads here this week.

Gael Monfils v Adrian Mannarino Predictions & Tips

Although Mannarino is an uncanny player who has troubled many a seasoned opponent, it will be an uphill task for him against the player of the stature of Monfils.

Expect Monfils to outlast Mannarino in most rallies and seal the match in straight sets.
