Laslo Djere v Juan Ignacio Londero Head to Head

These two have never played each other at any level of tennis, and the difference of merely 11 spots on the ATP rankings makes this an interesting contest on paper.

Laslo Djere off to a Good Start on Clay

Following a slow start to the season on hard court surfaces, Djere got a bye in the first round here at Cordoba. That was followed by an easy, second round stroll over Pedro Portero Martinez in his second round match when he won 6-3, 6-4 to seal his quarterfinal berth.

Djere’s excellent clay court season last year helped him improve from a low of 92nd in the world to 27th at one point before ending the season at 38th. The year included his first ever title at the ATP circuit, as he won at Rio and he will be gunning for a lot more this season as he looks to improve on his ranking and gun for the top 20 in the world.

It might not be easy though given Londero’s another clay court specialist, he could be in a tussle here.

Defending Champion Londero’s Had it Easy

Unlike Djere, Londero didn’t have an opening bye which left him needing to win two matches in a row to seal his last-eight berth.

It started with a 6-2, 7-5 rout of Marco Cecchinato in the first round but things got even better in the second as he crushed the 354th-ranked Pedro Cachin 6-3, 6-3 to make it to the quarterfinal.

Londero is currently 50th in the world, his career-best ranking, coming on the back of the title he won here at Cordoba last year. That aside, he also made it to the final at the Bastad Open and had an overall 27-14 win-loss on the surface – including Challengers and qualifiers.

Laslo Djere v Juan Ignacio Londero Predictions & Tips

This one looks a tough match to call with neither player looking to give an inch on this surface. What we could see is a slugfest that goes to the third set and one which Djere just about manages to edge.
