Amanda Anisimova v Barbora Strycova Head to Head

This will be the second meeting between the pair. They met on the hard courts of Auckland last year where Anisimova prevailed in straight sets.

Anisimova’s First Match After Parting Ways with Coach Rodriguez

The 19-year-old had just paired up with her new coach last October after her father and coach Konstantin Anisimov passed away. She had only played under her new coach for two tournaments this year before parting ways.

She started the season with a semifinal run at Auckland but crashed out in the first round at the Australian Open. The 19-year-old hasn’t played a competitive match for almost a month now and would be hoping for a fresh start after a whirlwind 12 months.

She started 2019 as world number 87. Despite having never won a singles match at a major she reached the fourth round at the Australian Open and lost to the eventual champion, Petra Kvitova. She had an excellent clay-court season which brought her maiden WTA title at Bogota. The teenager followed it up with a spectacular run till the semi-finals at the French Open. She did not lose a single set till the semis and got the better off the defending champion & world number three, Simona Halep.

Anisimova rose to as high as 21 in the world and has reportedly signed the biggest-ever deal for a female teenager in the sport with Nike surpassing Maria Sharapova’s $100 million deal nearly ten years ago. She would be hoping to get some calm and consistency in her game now and put everything that has happened in the past six months behind her.

Strycova Looking to Break the Losing Streak

The 33-year-old Czech veteran started the year with a hard-fought win over Johanna Konta in Brisbane. But she has not won a single match since then, losing all the three she has played. Considering the fact that she lost the eight out of the last nine matches she played at the end of last season, she would be desperate to put a run of victories under her belt soon.

Despite losing more matches than winning last year, she achieved arguably her best ever single run of her career. She reached the semi-finals at the Wimbledon beating four seeded players in the process. She also won her maiden doubles Grand Slam at Wimbledon partnering Markéta Vondroušová.

This is the fourth time she is taking part in the event. She hasn’t been able to get past round two on any of the occasions. She will be looking to improve on that record this week to kickstart her season.

Amanda Anisimova v Barbora Strycova Predictions & Tips

Both the players haven’t played a competitive match since the first round of the Australian Open. Both of them haven’t had the best of the starts to the season and are looking for a confidence boost. The first break on the serve is likely to be crucial. Anisimova has a slightly better record on the hard courts and it may prove to be the difference.

Tip: Anisimova to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
