Johanna Konta v Marie Bouzkova Head to Head
This will be the second time Konta and Bouzkova play each other having earlier featured in a match in Monterrey earlier this year. That match came in the semifinal of that competition with Bouzkova coming away a straight-set winner.

It hasn’t been too many months of tennis this year but even in that, some players have been able to carve out a nice record for themselves while there have been others who have struggled to get going. Konta lies in the second category.
Having begun the year in Brisbane, Konta fell to Barbora Strycova in the first round there before losing to Ons Jabeur in another opener at the Australian Open. And things did not improve at all when she took to the court in St. Petersburg where Oceane Dodin got the better of her 6-3, 6-4.
It was finally in Monterrey that Konta won her first match of the season by defeating Kim Clijsters, making it to the semifinal. And then she went down to Bouzkova as mentioned earlier.
Konta did feature during the break at the Battle of the Brits, playing two singles matches and finishing 1-1. She lost to Jodie Burrage and won against Katie Boulter in the second.

Turnaround for Bouzkova at Monterrey
22-year-old Bouzkova is ranked 47th in the world, her career-best so far. And that’s down to her sterling and consistent performance over the last four seasons starting from 2016.
True, she has been playing and winning tournaments at the lower tier but take nothing away from her 174-93 win-loss record over this time leading up to the 2020 season. This year, however, things did not start off as well.
A first round loss at Brisbane was followed by another in Hobart before Naomi Osaka got past her in the opener at the Australian Open. Shifting focus to the lower-tier Nicholasville ITF tournament, Bouzkova made it to the quarterfinal, before those first round losses came back to haunt her in Acapulco.
It was finally in Monterrey where she found her bearings. Wins over Wang Yafan and Konta took her to the final where she pushed Elina Svitolina but fell short of winning her first WTA title.

Bouzkova starts off a slight favourite here, 4/5 for her win as opposed to 10/11 for Konta to scoop this one. Expecting this to go the full distance, three sets and all, with Konta to edge it.
