Roberto Bautista Agut v Miomir Kecmanovic Head to Head

This is the second time that Agut and Kecmanovic will face off in a competitive match. Their first came at the Cincinnati Masters, 2019, in the round of 16 and Agut cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win.

Bautista Agut, A Straight-Set Winner in Opener

Tennys Sandgren has tested a few players in the past but in his first round match against Bautista-Agut, it proved to be a difficult proposition. While Sandgren took Bautista-Agut to a tie-breaker in the third set, it was a case of too little, too late by then.

The Spaniard was coming into the match after having had the bitter-sweet experience of being involved in a rare pushing of Novak Djokovic to the wall, only to lose the encounter in three sets at the Cincinnati Open. He had earlier defeated Richard Gasquet, Karen Khachanov and Daniil Medvedev in three successive matches there to reach the semifinal.

Bautista-Agut, who has nine ATP titles to his name but never gone beyond the fourth round at the US Open, has shown some late sparkle in his career. He reached the quarterfinal at the Australian Open last year, while making it to the semifinal at Wimbledon too – both, his career best across all majors.

He plays an opponent now who is himself at his career-best.

Kecmanovic Aiming to Better His Best

Yep, Kecmanovic is ranked 47th in the world and that’s his best ranking so far. He wins another match here, that is bound to help his rankings because that would mean he has also gone past his best Grand Slam showing – a second round appearance in three of the four majors he played last season including the US Open.

Kecmanovic, who was playing in his first match on the tour since the end of the pandemic break, looked to be cruising to a straightforward win in his opener against Gianluca Mager. He was a couple of sets up and then suddenly lost his way in a third set tie-breaker which he lost 8-6.

Another set gone, the fourth and suddenly Kecmanovic was looking at a possible shock upset but he maintained his resolve to win the final set 6-2 and clinch his second round spot.

What the Serb wouldn’t want is a mental explosion of a similar kind against Bautista-Agut because he can be expected to make Kecmanovic pay for those mistakes.

Bautista Agut v Kecmanovic Prediction & Tip

Bautista-Agut is 1/8 to win the match, and while we believe he will scoop this one, it might not be as straightforward as a straight-set drubbing. Looking at the over-game market for this match.

Tip: Over 33.5 games in the match: 1/1 (bet365)
