Diego Schwartzman v Lorenzo Giustino Head to Head

This will be the first time Schwartzman and the 157th-ranked Giustino will be facing off in a competitive encounter.

Schwartzman Clinical against Tricky Kecmanovic

A lot was expected out of Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic who had only recently won his maiden ATP title. It had come on the clay courts of Kitzbuhel, where he overcame the likes of Kei Nishikori, Federico Delbonis and Yannick Hanfmann to clinch the win.

In front of Schwartzman, however, the Serb melted away rather quickly, winning just four games in the match. Schwartzman, who had earlier reached the final of the Rome Masters, which included a stunning performance in a clinical win over Rafael Nadal, repeated the same dose on Kecmanovic.

And when Nadal had found no answers to Schwartzman in that Rome Masters encounter, it was never going to be easy for Kecmanovic if the Argentine played to his strengths. That’s exactly what the Argentine did.

He slammed 32 winners, getting 62% of the first serves in and winning 68% of those points in turn breaking his opponent nine times in the match. Schwartzman will face Giustino, winner of one of the matches of the tournament already.

Giustino Involved in the Match of the First Round

Giustino was playing in his maiden main draw match at the French Open and just the second at a Grand Slam; and little did he know he along with his French opponent Corentin Moutet would go down in the history as the two involved in the second-longest match at Roland-Garros.

In the end, the inexperienced Italian great lasting powers and overturned a first set bagel to win 0–6, 7–6 (7), 7–6 (3), 2–6, 18–16, needing more than six hours to get to the second round.

The 157th-ranked Giustino had earlier made it through the qualifiers to get to the main draw and even there, he had had to face two three-setters, both of which lasted long – in the first round he needed a third set tiebreaker against Maximilian Marterer while edging past Hugo Grenier in second round with a 7-5 in the final set.

And he now takes on a clay court specialist, one of the top five players on clay at the moment in the world, having not had a lot of rest. It would be a test of his physical self and stamina other than clay court pedigree.

Schwartzman v Giustino Prediction and Tip

The manner in which Schwartzman demolished a player like Kecmanovic points to one thing – another demolition job can be expected out of him. Which is also why a win for the Argentine is pegged at 1/80 while a straight set one is a mere 2/9.

Tip: Schwartzman to win in straight sets: 2/9 (bet365)
