Sebastian Korda v Pedro Martinez Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 20-year-old American, and the Spaniard, who is three years older.

Sebastian Korda is enjoying the best week of his burgeoning professional career. The former junior world number one, and winner of the boys’ singles at the Australian Open in 2018, is only ranked 213 in the world, and had to qualify for these championships, but he has already made his mark in Paris with two shock wins.
First he beat Andrea Seppi of Italy, the world number 98 and clay court specialist, in four sets on Sunday, and then he pulled off an even bigger surprise to dump the number 21 seed and compatriot John Isner out of the tournament.
The key to his success was how he managed to negate Isner’s main weapon, his serve, breaking him in the third game of the match to establish an early advantage. Twice more he broke him in the second set, and, although Isner clawed one of them back, it was not enough to stop Korda taking a two-set lead.
Isner hit back in the third, with two service breaks of his own, but all hopes that he had of a comeback were dented when he dropped his own serve again in the third game of the fourth set.
He levelled again, but then immediately dropped his own serve once more, and that gave Korda an advantage he would not relinquish.

Martinez Continues His Progress in Paris
Like Korda, Martinez had to qualify for the tournament, and is now into the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time. The only other time he even won a Grand Slam match was in Melbourne, earlier this year.
But, having made the main draw, he has yet to drop a set in this year’s event. First, he began by dismissing the challenge of Aleksandar Vukic of Australia, the world 193, taking just over two hours to complete the match, including taking the third set to love.
His match against Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan was even more one-sided, with the world number 88 winning just four games, and struggling with his serve throughout.
In fact, it was Martinez who dropped his own serve in the very first game of the match, but he immediately broke back, and then forced another break to take the set.
Again, the pair swapped breaks at the start of the second set, but that was as good as it got for the Kazakh. He would not win another game in the entire match, and Martinez romped to victory.
It was all over in an hour and 40 minutes.
Korda v Martinez Prediction and Tip
Martinez will begin this match as favourite because he is the higher ranked of the pair, and, in theory, more used to the big stage, although, in reality, neither of them has any experience of playing in the third round of a Grand Slam. That makes the result hard to predict, but the Spaniard has yet to drop a set in Paris this year and may have the edge.
The consolation for the loser will be the biggest cheque of their career to date.
