Jennifer Brady v Veronika Kudermetova Head to Head

This will be the second meeting between Brady and Kudermetova. In the first at the Madrid Open qualifiers of 2019, the American had gotten past Kudermetova in two tough tie-breakers.

In the two rounds Brady has played so far, she has been at the receiving end of two tough opponents in the given conditions.

Dayana Yastremska might not be the form player right now, but she had reached the final of the Adelaide International earlier in the season and has shown enough promise to nearly break the top 20 of the WTA rankings.

So when she won the opening set of their first round match, it looked like Brady had a fight on her hands. And that’s how she managed to turn things around, winning the second set in a tie-breaker before clinching the decider 6-1.

Her second round match looked to be headed in the same direction. Brady fell 2-5 behind to Daria Kasatkina in the first set and another comeback performance looked to be the need of the hour.

Instead, Brady turned things around in that very set and the match as a whole, to win 11 of the next 13 games and the match in straight sets against the Russian. And the in-form American faces another Russian for a place in the semfinal.

Qualifier Kudermetova Crushes Karolina Hopes

It has turned out to be a forgettable second phase of the season for Karolina Pliskova, who at one stage this year was ranked world number two. And the latest player who shoot her down early has been Veronika Kudermetova, who, as a qualifier, has now marched into the quarterfinal.

After having already shocked a big-ticket player in the first round – albeit an out of form Donna Vekic – Kudermetova came back from a set down to stun the second seeded Karolina Pliskova in the second round of the competition.

Just one break of serve in the first set separated the two players as Pliskova looked like she seemed to have found a solution to her recent woes. Even more so when Pliskova went a break up in the second set.

Kudermetova fought back to level things off in that set and then forged a 5-3 lead, and while she failed to serve it out, she broke Pliskova yet again to win the set 6-4.

The final set proved to be a cakewalk to start things off when she broke the tall-serving Pliskova in the second game and to love. Kudermetova missed a chance to take a 5-2 lead on serve but broke Pliskova soon after and completed a stunning three-set win.

Brady v Kudermetova Prediction and Tip

The kind of form Brady showed after being down 2-5 in the first set shows her resilience. She is a player belonging to the top 10 and if she comes out firing all cylinders, there can only be one winner here.

Tip: Brady to win in straight sets: 10/11 (bet365)
