Adrian Mannarino v Martin Kližan Head to Head

This will be the second meeting between the two players.

Martin Kližan won their only previous meeting. That win came in the Madrid Open qualifiers in May last year, with Kližan taking the match in straight sets. Additionally, that match was on a clay court.

Mannarino Aiming For End-Of-Season High

After a mid-season lull that saw the Frenchman suffer first-round elimination in five out of six tournaments from late August to mid-October, Adrian Mannarino seems to have finally picked up form.

He reached the quarters of the Cologne Open, followed that with a run to the final in Nur-Sultan, and had a decent showing in the recently concluded Paris Masters, where he only lost to eventual finalist Alexander Zverev in the third round. Though he may have a 16-16 win/loss record for the year currently, a good percentage of those wins came in his most recent tournaments.

The Sofia Open now promises to be another great chance for him to ride that good form. His best performance in previous editions of the tournament was a quarter-final berth in 2016, but first and second-round eliminations in later years since then.

He comes in as the tournament’s fifth seed and will have a greater chance than most to reach the latter stages of the tournament. With his good form, and up against a lucky loser, he should go into the first round hopeful of winning the match.

Kližan’s Lack Of Tour Main Draw Matches

Martin Kližan hasn’t played in many ATP tour tournaments this year. Though he’s played many challenger tournaments, his only main draw action this year came in the Chile Open, losing in the first round to Federico Delbonis.

He comes in as a lucky loser, having lost in the last round of qualifying to Taro Daniel. He has a 13-13 win/loss record for the year, but with a majority of those coming in challenger tournaments, the level of experience will be different.

Though he has six ATP titles to his name, his form has been below average, stemming from him reaching the latter stages of his professional career. Up against Mannarino, this looks like a total mismatch.

Mannarino v Kližan Prediction and Tip

This seems like a relatively easy pick. Mannarino’s good form up against a struggling Kližan guarantees that this tie only has one direction: A Mannarino straight sets win.

Tip: Mannarino to win in straight sets: 4/6 (bet365)
