Stefano Travaglia v Emil Ruusuvouri Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first meeting between the 29-year-old Italian and the Finn, who is eight years his junior.

Travaglia Makes Encouraging Start to 2021

Travaglia had an encouraging start to his 2021 season by coming from a set down to beat the number seven seed Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia in the first round.

Things did not begin at all well though for the 29-year-old Italian, who dropped his first two service games, enabling Kecmanovic to romp through the first set for the loss of just one game in 22 minutes.

However, he rallied in the second and achieved an early break of his own, only to surrender it five games later. The turning point of the match came in the tenth game, however. Travaglia forced and converted a break point to take the set and level the match, and never looked back from there.

At the start of the third set he came under pressure on his own serve but held it, and immediately broke, and then broke again.

Kecmanovic, serving to stay in the match, saved four match points on his won serve, but fifth proved lucky for Travaglia, who clinched the hard-fought win.

Ruusuvouri Comfortable in First Round Performance

Ruusuvouri enjoyed a good first round win of his own against Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic,  a man twenty places higher than him in the world rankings.

It was a match dominated by serve, with just two break points and one break of serve secured by either man in regular play. Both those went to the Finn in the fourth game of the first set, the second of which he converted to take the set.

The second set saw even fewer chances against the serve and went to a tie-break. Vesely blinked first and dropped his serve and then again, but two mini-breaks ahead, Ruusuvouri then surrendered them both. However, Vesely then dropped his serve again and this time the Finn made no mistake and closed out the match.

Travaglia v Ruusuvouri Prediction and Tip

Although there is no history between them, and he is the lower-ranked player, Ruusuvouri will start favourite by dint of the fact that he is more at home on hard courts, than his opponent who, like many Italian players, prefers clay.

Tip:  Ruusuvouri to win in straight sets: 11/10 (bet365)
