Berrettini Storms Into The Second Round

Berrettini’s tournament started with a bang. The Italian needed only 56 minutes to dispose of his first-round opponent Ergi Kirkin in straight sets.

He dominated proceedings in the first set, capitalized on all three break points that he got, and more than doubled Kirkin’s 10 points to win the set 6-0.

The second set, a more relatively even affair in comparison to the first set, was decided when Berrettini broke his opponent in the set’s fifth game to go 3-2 up. From then, the set continued with serve, with Berrettini ultimately claiming the set 6-4 to round off the tie.

In addition to his 80% break point conversion rate (4/5), Berrettini limited his 446th-ranked opponent to 0 break points. He also notched eight aces in the match and won 24 out of 26 first-service points

A title-worthy performance from the top seed, some might say. He now walks into the second round as a 1/14 favorite against Kuzmanov and is still one of the top two favorites to lift the Antalya Open singles title.

Djere Retires But Kuzmanov Was Still Dominant

Qualifier Dimitar Kuzmanov was leading Laslo Djere 6-1, 3-2 when the Serbian was forced to retire because of an eye inflammation.

Despite coming in as the underdog of the match, Kuzmanov started strong. He may have squandered four break points in the first set’s second game, but he capitalized on two later break points to break Djere back-to-back in between a five-game winning streak.

The second set went with serve until the fifth game when Kuzmanov broke Djere to go 3-2 up. After that, Djere was forced to retire because of the aforementioned eye inflammation.

Despite that, Kuzmanov’s dominance was clearly evident and worthy of earning him a position in the tournament’s second round where he comes in priced at 8/1 against Berrettini. In spite of those seemingly insurmountable odds, he will still be aiming to reach his first ATP tour-level quarter-final.

Berrettini v Kuzmanov Prediction and Tip

No tie is ever a given, but Berrettini should be expected to cruise in this one. Chasing his fourth title, his all-court aggressiveness is bound to show in this match just as it did in his first-round match.

In addition to that, Berrettini’s powerful serve is always a reliable asset. That strong serve forms the basis of the mentioned tip below.

Tip: First Berrettini service game, Berrettini to win to 0, 15, or 30: 1/3 (bet365)
