Adrian Mannarino v Cameron Norrie Head to Head

Mannarino and Norrie have met each year in the last three seasons. The Brit leads the series 2-1, winning in straight sets in Los Cabos and Monte Carlo. But it is the crafty Frenchman who won their last meeting last year on the hard courts of Acapulco in three sets.

Mannarino Set For First Outing In 2021

It was a bittersweet year for Adrian Mannarino in 2020. First, there was a 14th career title on the ATP Challenger tour in Monterrey to dampen the disappointment of his shocking start to the season in which he lost 7 out of 9 matches (five those coming in the opening round).

A return to the Challengers was a return to basics and it was a good decision. Then the pandemic-enforced pause kicked in, and Mannarino endured a slump once tennis resumed.

It took a while before he finally rediscovered the winning feel after making another of those trademark early exits in four successive tournaments between Rome and St. Petersburg.

However, his end to the season was fantastic. He gathered some real momentum on the indoor hard courts, a surface where he has performed with distinction in the past. He made the last eight of Cologne 2, the finals in Nur Sultan and semifinal in Sofia, each time losing to the eventual champion.

Can he make his mark at the Delray Beach?

Norrie Gave Up Only Three Games In Round One

Cameron Norrie made a real statement of intent in his opening round match, beating American wildcard JC Aragone 6-2 6-1 without breaking sweat.

It is the second successive year he has made the round of 16 in Delray, following up on his upset win over Taylor Fritz at last year’s edition.

After a middling 2020 in which he recorded a surprise win over World No.9 Diego Schwartzman at the US Open, Norrie begun the season in the best possible fashion. Dominant and unrelenting.

He won 84% of first serve points (26/31), and protected his own delivery throughout the match, saving all three break points chances he faced. The British World No.74 put constant pressure on Aragone’s serve, posting over 50% of return points won on both first and second serves.

Mannarino v Norrie Prediction and Tip

The odds are pretty even here and that is partly due to Mannarino’s first outing of the season. Historically, the Frenchman is always a slow starter and Norrie who has already acclimatized himself on these windy conditions in Delray should have the edge.

Tip: Norrie to win: 5/6 (bet365)
