Wang Qiang v Jil Teichmann Head to Head
This will be the very first meeting between the 35th-ranked Qiang and Teichmann who is 61st in the world.

Qiang Gets Campaign Under Way against Gadecki
Lack of court time has resulted in lack of results for the Chinese player Qiang since the pandemic struck. Before the start of the season, the last match Qiang had played was in the Fed Cup in March 2020, following which she was away for nine months.
And that has reflected in her performances at the start of this new season.
The former world number 12, who had beaten Serena Williams at the 2020 Australian Open, kick-started the 2021 season with three back to back defeats including in the first round of the Australian Open where she lost to Sara Errani. Before that, both Daria Kasatkina and Jasmine Paolini had scuppered her comeback with three-set wins.
It was only at the Phillip Island Trophy that the Chinese woman finally clinched a victory, defeating Maddison Inglis in her opener but lost in the next one to Irina Begu.
Which is why, despite being a heavy favourite on paper for her first round encounter here against Olivia Gadecki, Qiang might not have felt overly confident. That she came through in straight sets would have been a huge relief but now comes her real test.

Teichmann Crashes Through Kristina Party
Opening round defeats at both, the Gippsland Trophy and the Australian Open, and coincidentally to Cori Gauff both times looked to have derailed Teichmann’s start to the season but she looked to have come into her own more recently.
Featuring in the Phillip Island Trophy last week, she overcame her first three opponents to reach the semifinals of the competition, before going down fighting in the semifinal to Marie Bouzkova. And in the opening round here, Kristina Mladenovic was left with a lot to do, before she went down in straight sets to the Swiss woman.
The 61st-ranked Teichmann had bit of a mixed bag last season too – there was a runnerup trophy at the Lexington Open but in the rest of the post pandemic season, she won just three of the nine main draw matches she was a part of.
Which leads us to an intriguing clash between these two, both of whom have exhibited form issues but at the same time have shown what they are capable of as well.
