They have played each other five times before this with Goffin leading 3-2 on head to head. This includes two matches on clay which were both won by Goffin, both of which were their last two encounters.

Bautista Agut Wins a Third in Straight Sets

While Bautista Agut was a heavy favourite going into his semifinal against Peter Gojowczyk, funnier things have happened to players despite being 1/6 to win a match. As it turned out, after a close first set, the Spaniard swept past Gojowczyk 7-5, 6-1 to make it to the title-decider.

Spending just an hour and 16 minutes on the court, Bautista-Agut had three break-points in the opening set before he converted one in the 11th game. The Spaniard then held serve to win the opening.

Once he had had the measure of Gojowcyk in the first set, there was no looking back for Bautista-Agut, who raced off with back to back breaks to take a 4-0 lead in the first set. A couple of games later, with his opponent serving to stay in the match, Bautista-Agut broke again to complete a facile win.

Earlier, after a first round bye, Bautista-Agut had overcome Gregoire Barrere and Ugo Humbert in the next two rounds.

Goffin Makes Heavy Weather of His Victory

It wasn’t as straightforward as it was for Bautista-Agut but Goffin came through in the end, defeating Egor Gerasimov in the semifinal in a three-setter. Goffin, the world number 15, won 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in two hours and 13 minutes to seal his berth in the final.

Goffin struck early showing his opponent he meant business by breaking Gerasimov in the very first game of the match. He went on to hold every service in the first set, holding on to that slender lead to go 1-0 up. In the second, it was Gerasimov’s turn to return the compliment but he went a step further by breaking Goffin in the second and sixth game.

The third set went to serve till 3-3 before Goffin finally got an opportunity to earn himself three break-points of which he converted the first. Two games later he had served it out with ease.

The Belgian had earlier gotten past Benjamin Bonzi and Lorenzo Sonego to seal his semifinal berth.

Bautista Agut v Goffin Prediction and Tip

When the top two seeds clash in the final of a best-of-three encounter, the best choice is to go with a three-setter or even an over games market would do.

Tip: Over 22.5 games in the match: 10/11 (bet365)
