Nikoloz Basilashvili Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between the players who have never met earlier on the tour.

Hard Hitting Basilashvili Looking To Overcome Shocking 2020 Season

Nikoloz Basilashvili was once ranked in the top 20 in the world as he was the winner of three ATP 500 titles a couple season ago, twice at Hamburg and once at Beijing, defeated some of the top ranked players in the world today. With a thundering baseline game, he has remained a tricky opponent in the draw for the best out there.

The Georgian has hit an unbelievable run of poor form since the resumption of the season after the pandemic hiatus losing nine singles matches in a row to wrap up 2020. While he has not particularly been able to pinpoint where in lies the problem, he has looked a shadow of the player he was. While he did better to win a couple rounds to kick off the 2021 season at the Antalya Open, he again hit a low with opening round losses at the ATP 250 in Melbourne and at the Australian Open the following week.

While the protected pandemic ATP rankings have seen him hold onto world number 40 in the rankings thus far, he will be really hoping to take it one match at a time and get some wins under his belt to raise his confidence as the season ahead right now looks like a difficult uphill task for the Georgian.

With Decent Start to The Season, Norrie Hoping To Consolidate

While yet to make a meaningful impact on the ATP tour, Britian’s Cameron Norrie has been hitting good form in recent times and has gone from strength to strength. The 2019 season saw him make his first ATP 500 final four at the Mexico Open in Acapulco, where as the post Covid hiatus saw him upset top ten Diego Schwartzman in the US Open first round.

The Briton was off to a good start this year at the Delray Beach Open defeating Adrian Mannarino and Frances Tiafoe before losing in the semi-finals to rising young American Sebastian Korda. The season Down Under saw him lose to world number two Rafa Nadal in the third round, but that was only after a crucial first round win against number one British player Dan Evans.

Norrie has looked in good touch this week at the Rotterdam qualifiers dropping seven games in total and will hope to make the most of his week on the fast indoor courts.

Basilashvili v Norrie Prediction and Tip

While Basilashvili is the more accomplished player, he has hit some very poor form in recent times and nothing suggests him coming out of it at the moment. Norrie on the other hand has been growing in confidence and will be hoping to consolidate on the starts he has had this season.

Norrie to prevail in straight sets, and another loss for the Georgian seems very likely.

Tip: Norrie To Win In Straight Sets: 8/11 (bet365)
